Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens

Located on Oahu, plan a visit to the beautiful Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens.

Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens is a 700 acre, tropical garden that’s family owned. The lush gardens can be found at the base of Ko’olau mountain range in Kahaluu, Oahu.

Hiram L. Fong was proud to be the first Asian American elected to the U.S. Senate. Mr. Fong purchased the 700 acre plantation back in 1950.

Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens receives over 100,000 visitors a year and one of the favorite activities to enjoy is the art of lei making.

Make your own Hawaiian lei for only $6.50. Enjoy the sweet fragrances of tropical blossoms and the touch of cool, crisp native ferns.

Although Hiram Fong passed away in 2004, his legacy lives on in his spectacular tropical garden. The primary goals of the Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens are:
1) Preserve and Promote Hawaii’s scenic landscape, aloha spirit, and Hawaiian history to our visitors.
2) Perpetuate Hawaii’s heritage by representing our multi-ethnic community through it’s unique mix of fruits, flowers, and plants.

The best way to experience the Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens is by taking a Guided Walking Tour. Covering about a mile, this leisurely stroll lasts about 1.5 hour and costs $14.50 person.

Walk through the Garden’s lush valley and plateaus of tropical flower gardens, fruit and nut orchards, exotic palm varieties, and Hawaiian plants.

Be sure to stop by the beautiful open air Visitor Center. It’s a scenic area that’s ideal for weddings, receptions, and even a baby’s first luau celebration.

Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens is open daily from 10am -2pm, and closed on both Christmas and New Years day.
