Hike to Kalihiwai Falls

Kalihiwai Water Falls - Kauai Hawaii

Kalihiwai Falls is located off Highway 56 on the north shore of Kauai. Kalihiwai Falls is breathtaking and can be easily seen from the highway bridge.

The Kalihiwai River then flows under the bridge and empties into the Pacific Ocean at Kalihiwai Bay.

One outdoor activity you should consider is an exclusive hiking experience on the pristine, private Princeville Ranch. You can ascend “Green Hill” and witness fantastic ocean and mountain views.

Then hike the lowland rainforest, Kalihiwai Valley, to the spectacular five-tiered Kalihiwai Falls. Because of the remoteness, you can often have it all to yourself.

Once you reach Kalihiwai Falls, take a dip in the small pool at the base of the waterfall.

Continue up-valley along the stream to a second, idyllic waterfall swimming hole surrounded by fern-lined walls for a delicious lunch and jumping or floating on inner tubes.

Allow about three hours for hiking time and the hiking distance is approximately four miles.
