For an unforgettable luau experience, try the Waikiki Lu’au at Hilton Hotel on Oahu, Hawaii. The ‘Waikiki Lu’au on the Lagoon’ premiered at Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa last month and is now offered twice a week.
In partnership with Tihati Productions, the show commences at 5:15pm on Sundays and Wednesdays where lu’au guests are greeted on the Hilton’s Great Lawn by fishermen arriving in canoes to teach the traditional “hukilau” song and dance.
Guests are treated to a Samoan fire-knife dance and there are also interactive games and activities for guests that include a pineapple toss and coconut husking, all amongst the backdrop of the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon.
Guests will see their dinner being taken out from the ground, a pig cooked in the authentic imu (underground oven). The feast also consists of poi, lomi lomi salmon, grilled huli huli chicken, mahimahi with macadamia nuts, creamed spinach, rice and taro and sweet rolls.
For dessert guests can select from haupia, macadamia nut cream pie, coconut cake and guava cake, with a complimentary mai tai and soft drink for each guest.
Jon Conching, VP, sales and marketing, Hilton Hawaii remarked that the location would make the experience unforgettable and that “guests are literally immersed into the host culture through elements important to the Hawaiian people: food, music and dance.”
The lu’au cost is $95 for adults and $45 for children between the ages of 4 and 12. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. Validated parking is available at the Hilton for $8 for self-parking, or $13 for valet. Source: Travel Blackboard
