The Sugar Cane Train provides fun family entertainment for everyone and is one of several Maui, Hawaii attractions offered by the Maui Fun Company at a modest price per ticket.

Join the Maui Sugar Cane Train as they travel between historic Lahaina town and the resorts of Kaanapali. Relax in an open-air coach whose nostalgic charm recall the day of the plantation era in old Hawaii.

With a blast of its steam whistle, the locomotive chugs along a 6 mile stretch of track at a leisurely pace. During your train ride, the Sugar Cane Train crosses a 325-foot curved wooden trestle whose elevation yields panoramic views of neighboring islands and the West Maui Mountains.

During your journey the conductor will entertain you with songs from the plantation era during the height of the sugar cane industry on Maui. Along the way you will pass by points of interest from an era gone by. Your conductor will share the history of the area and industry.

Railroads have been a part of the history of Hawaii for more than a 100 years, hauling sugar cane to the mills and transporting workers between their homes and the cane fields.

During the plantation era of the sugar cane industry the steam locomotive became a picturesque part of the Hawaiian landscape sounding their whistles as they rounded mountain curves or as they churned along narrow-gauge track between fields of sugar cane and plantation villages.

The Sugar Cane Train offers a daily round trip schedule departing from either the Lahaina Station or the Puukolii (Kaanapali) Station. Your experience aboard the Sugar Cane Train should be about 90 minutes of total time. This includes a refreshment stop (no host) for juice, soda, water and snacks at the Puukolii Station in the heart of Kaanapali.

The trail head begins south of Hana in the pristine Kipahulu Valley where Maui’s ultimate waterfalls tumble hundreds of feet into deep pools. This adventure will take you on a 5 mile hike into the rainforest where you will enjoy secret networks of clear pools and cascading waterfalls.

Your journey through the rainforest will take you through towering forests of bamboo guiding you to incredible waterfalls hundreds of feet tall. The sights, the sounds of the jungle will leave you at peace and one with nature.

Also included are hip packs, towels, jackets, snacks and water for your comfort. Maui Eco Adventures recommends that you wear either hiking boots or sneakers for this event. Remember to bring plenty of film for your camera, sunscreen and of course wear your swim suit for that refreshing swim in one of Maui’s hidden waterfalls. Lunch is also included with this adventure. Choices for lunch are Turkey or Veggie sandwiches.

Some areas are bundled together for a centralized pick up. Pick up begins at the Ritz Carlton at 6.45am and continues towards Kaanapali with the last pick up being about 7.25am in Lahaina. This depends on how spread out the guests per resort, per van.

South side guests will meet Maui Eco-Adventures at the south parking lot of the Maui Ocean Center in Maalaea across from the 76 gas station at 7.45am.
