Duke’s Waikiki restaurant
Duke’s Waikiki on Oahu was named after legendary surfer Duke Kahanamoku. Duke’s is a fun restaurant and lively bar, ideally located on Waikiki Beach.
The views from Duke’s Waikiki are amazing. Enjoy seeing surfers and the rolling waves of the Pacific Ocean, plus possibly the best views of world-famous Diamond Head.
Duke Paoa Kahanamoku was born in 1890 and died in 1968. To this day, the legendary surfer and swimmer, Duke Kahanamoku, is still considered as the greatest athlete in the history of the Hawaiian islands.

On the Hawaiian island of Molokai, there is a wonderful coconut grove that was planted in the 1860′s by King Kamehameha V. King Kamehameha V. was nicknamed Kapuaiwa, and selected this particular site due to the seven sacred ponds located here.
The King ordered 1,000 tall, royal coconut palm trees to be planted on Molokai to represent each individual warrior in his mighty army, in addition to shading his sacred bathing pools of the ali’i (royalty).
The Kapuaiwa coconut grove is located on the south shore of Molokai, approximately 1.5 miles west of the town of Kaunakakai.

Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens
Located on Oahu, plan a visit to the beautiful Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens.
Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens is a 700 acre, tropical garden that’s family owned. The lush gardens can be found at the base of Ko’olau mountain range in Kahaluu, Oahu.
Hiram L. Fong was proud to be the first Asian American elected to the U.S. Senate. Mr. Fong purchased the 700 acre plantation back in 1950.

Polihua Beach – Lania, Hawaii
The Hawaiian island of Lanai is the smallest of Hawaii’s inhabited islands. Lanai measures approximately only 140 square miles, with a coastline of about 47 miles.
On the remote northern shore of Lanai, you will find scenic Polihua Beach.
About a mile and a half long, Polihua Beach is the longest white sand beach on the island of Lanai.

I heard about this cute little restaurant from a friend, so four of us gave it a try one evening. We finally located it, and I must say, the exterior lighting and appearance of the eatery was very classy and attractive, (reminiscent of Taormina Sicilian Restaurant in Waikiki).
The interior is tastefully decorated as well, very upscale, and attractive. My only criticism of its interior decor and lighting would be to either get rid of the refrigerated display case and its bright fluorescent lighting immediately inside the entrance.
Or, if this display case is necessary, install some cool temp. incandescent lighting inside to highlight whatever you want to emphasize. The fluorescent lighting in the case wages a battle with the rest of the very classy lighting throughout the restaurant.

Duke Kahanamoku Beach
On Oahu, Kahanamoku Beach is located in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Fort Derussy.
Although everyone has heard of Waikiki Beach, it’s actually a two-mile stretch of white sand on Oahu’s southern coast and is comprised of nine individually named beaches.
Kahanamoku Beach can be found on the north end, adjacent to the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor and the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon.
