
Lanai is not the biggest of the Hawaiian Islands, nor is it the second biggest. In fact, Lanai is the smallest island. It’s also known as the “Island of Mystery” and the “Secluded Isle”, with only about 2,800 inhabitants. This adds to its feeling of quietude.
Many visitors see Lanai’s landscape as a truly divine experience. “You come to Lanai and you commune with nature. It’s a real experience; it’s not something that’s contrived,” said Kepa Maly, of Lana’i Cultural Heritage Center.
